Re: Grassy Narrows mothers invite Premier to lunch, Wawatay News online
What a wonderful strategy to make pollution REAL to the politicians! Congratulations to the mothers for their insight, their stamina, their determination to protect and nurture their children and all children of the world! Remember the movie of such determination, “Erin Brokovich”? She helped win millions for each family affected by chromium that was being dumped on a community against their knowledge. It is time for politicians to leave their ivory towers before the women find a way to run the cafeteria in Queen’s Park or turn to catering....

Re: Attawapiskat students thriving with laptops, Wawatay News June 7
I will apologize firstly for not agreeing 100% with this concept. While I believe that modern technology does have its place and can be extremely useful, even groundbreaking--I fail to see a striking balance between modern and traditional. I also fail to understand why there are so many programs readily available to support the childrens transition from their own culture to someone elses. Laptops = good...self-esteem through cultural and historical education AND hands on learning of tradition practices = even better!

Re: Lack of Moosonee public docks a concern, Wawatay News June 7
This is shameful! WHY can’t the town continue to pay for this service? Other towns pay for services that their community uses because they take it out of the tax revenue - like roads and sidewalks - this is our transportation route. SERIOUSLY! This is shameful - I pay property taxes and I think that my taxes should in part pay for these docks. We are using them! They are part of the infrastructure of this community. Seriously! This just burns my butt. How on earth is this town EVER going to recover a tourism industry with such backwards thinking? Hi, welcome to Moosonee - town where taxes are paid for nothing...enjoy!

Re: Grassy Narrows youth bring mercury poison message to Toronto, Wawatay News May 31
This is great to hear that our youth are taking an active interest in environmental issues and first nation’s health issues caused by industry neglect. However I believe that education is also power, I sincerely hope that these young activists pursue an education in law, environmental science and health related fields. Are the youth continuing their high school education via correspondence on their walk?

Extremely proud of our youth. Guaranteed your message will be heard by many. Keep up the good work!

I’m happy to see the ongoing support and assistance in our northern remote communities to help our people cope with so many lifelong and generational issues...
