Was your child apprehended and taken into care? Are you wondering, as a parent, if you might have rights when your child has been apprehended or is in care?
As part of its public legal education to the First Nations members of Nishnawbe Aski Nation, Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation developed a Know Your Rights card on “If your child is apprehended (with or without police)” to educate and inform parents and caregivers about their rights.
The Know Your Rights card (pictured above) is included as an insert in the April 2016 issue of the Wawatay newspaper. This card is made available in pocket size so it can be carried in your wallet, your bag, etc.
If you cannot use it, give it to someone who may need it.
The Know Your Rights card can be viewed on our website at www.nanlegal.on.ca or obtained from any of the Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services office locations.
