Suzuki guest speaker at Aboriginal Day event

David Suzuki will headline Pic Mobert’s National Aboriginal Day powwow June 21.
The event will also include live entertainment, food vendors and fireworks show.
Suzuki is an award-winning scientist, environmentalist, and broadcaster. He will discuss the importance of traditional ecological knowledge and values that are possessed by Aboriginal people. He will also highlight issues such as safe drinking water, green energy projects and the role of Aboriginal people in protected areas.
Pic Mobert is a small Ojibway community of 385 members about 50 kilometres east of Marathon, Ont.
The event is being touted as environmental friendly. Participants are encouraged to bring their own utensils to avoid the need for disposable dishes. No plastic, cans or paper will be allowed. Participants are also asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
