On October 26, 2012, Nishnawbe-Aski Police intercepted and seized a shipment of liquor at the Kashechewan Airport. A total of 42 bottles of liquor was seized by police with the assistance of the Band Council with an estimated street value of eight thousand four-hundred ($8,400.00) dollars.
Thirty-three (33) year-old Roy WESLEY of Kashechewan First Nation has been charged with Keeping Liquor for Sale Without a Licence or Permit under section 5(1) of the Liquor Licence Act. ROY has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Kashechewan Provincial Court on January 23, 2013.

Forty-four (44) year-old Judy WESLEY of Moosonee, Ontario and thirty-nine (39) year-old Brian SCOTT, a resident of Fort Albany First Nation, have each been charged with Keeping Liquor for Sale Without a Licence or Permit under section 5(1) of the Liquor Licence Act. Both WESLEY and SCOTT have been released and will appear in Kashechewan Provincial Court on January 23, 2013.
