Full Time Position Location: Sioux Lookout, ON

In recognition of the multiple factors that contribute to youth resilience, life promotion and bimaadiziwin (a healthy way of life), Indigenous Youth Futures Partnership (IYFP) was launched. IYFP brings together tools and approaches rooted in indigenous knowledge and Western science to work together with communities to articulate their vision of the future. The vision will guide the co-development, implementation and evaluation of multiple, interdependent pathways to foster youth resilience and create the conditions for youth to thrive. Sioux Lookout First Nations will work in Partnership with Carleton University for a Youth Resiliency Project for the Sioux Lookout Area.


· A diploma/degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration, and/ or Project Management

· Experience in Health Administration

· Research Project and management experience

· Experience and/or training in management and leadership

· Fluency in one of the First Nation’s dialects of the Sioux Lookout district (Ojibway, Cree and/or Oji-Cree) is an asset

· Must have experience and understanding of First Nations issues, and of the geographic realities and social conditions within northern remote Native communities.

· Strong analytical skills

· Strong oral and written communication skills

· High degree of computer literacy (i.e. accounting, spreadsheets, health data base, Microsoft Office and project management software)

· Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills

· Must be willing to travel


1. Act as community liaison with participating communities

2. Monitor the budget and ensure proper financial coding

3. Will work with Carlton University administrator to:

· coordinate the movement of researchers in and out of the region (together with community liaison)

· complete expense reimbursements etc.

· document the inkind contributions of partners in the community

· assist in completing documentation required by granting agencies

· organize travel to communities

· oversee communications with communities and the researchers

· oversee organization of regional events and meetings in Sioux Lookout

· ensure the resource needs for running events are in place

· take minutes of meetings of Steering and Program committees

· upload documents to database

· other activities as needed to support the project

4. Will work with Project Administration leaders:

· to organize community events, including meeting spaces, accommodations for visitors, translators where necessary

· assist in overseeing students working in communities

· assist in setting in place supports to accomplish research activities, including survey administration, helping to set up interviews, focus groups, key conversations

· support the community profile documentation through research and gathering

· facilitate and contribute to activities to promote community engagement

· liaise between researchers and community members, as relevant

· take minutes of meetings of Community Advisory Groups

· Develop and implement communication strategies

5. Provide assistance when required and any other duties assigned
