Primary Duties:
Responsible for creating and delivering a range of clinical services (assessment, consultation, home programming, parent training) as part of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) and community Child First Team serving children from birth to six years of age. Reports directly to the Health Director.
* Administers and interprets speech assessments
* Develops plans and implements therapies for identified children
* Provides recommendations and strategies to parents, nurses, community
members and other professionals in written reports or through community outreach
* Works together with Allied Health Care Professionals, and other professionals as
* Provides hearing screenings
* Consults with related organizations such as Winnipeg Children’s Centre, George
Jeffrey’s Children Centre, Sioux Lookout First Nation Health Authority etc.
* Provides administrative and consultative services to the nursing stations and day cares
* Advises the Health Directors and other professionals on matters including policy
formulation, program activities to address clients needs
* Provides advice, assistance and recommendations to the Health Councils (in areas of
planning, prioritizing and managing day programs, and training of local health staff

* Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
* Minimum of 2 years related experience
* Must be sensitive to the cultural traditions of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak people
* Excellent organization and planning skills
* Proven leadership abilities, including accountability, and work-habits
* Ability to speak Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset
* Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
* Good knowledge of the programs, regulations and procedures of First Nations and Inuit
Health Branch (FNIHB)
* Willing and able to travel
* Hanen certification in “It Takes Two to Talk” would be an asset
