Domtar Inc., Dryden Pulp Mill Operations annually utilizes 2.0 million m3 of conifer fibre and manages the Trout Lake and Wabigoon Sustainable Forest Licenses with a combined area of approximately 1.7 million hectares. We are expanding our team of professionals and seeking an individual to join our Forestlands Department. A progressive community set between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, Dryden offers excellent recreational, fishing and outdoor activities.
Reporting to the Operations Team Lead and working in conjunction with the Forestlands team, your role will be to lead in the implementation of Domtar’s safety, EMS, production and quality standards for Domtar’s contract road construction and maintenance on the our Sustainable Forest Licenses.
More specifically you will:
Work with the Operations Team Lead to develop road plans to meet the supply needs of both Domtar and external customers.
Participate in the budgeting process as well the development of Annual Work Schedules and Annual Reports.
Lead the Operations team with planning and monitoring of road construction and maintenance
Supervise Domtar’s contract road construction operations to ensure compliance with the Trout Lake and Wabigoon Forest Management Plans.
Liaise with the MNRF on operational issues.
The ideal candidate will possess a Forestry degree and be eligible for membership with the Ontario Professional Foresters Association. A suitable combination of related education and experience will also be considered.
A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership that has produced successful business results together with strong beliefs and behaviors in safety, professional ethics and environmental values will be required.
You will be experienced in road construction and maintenance operations and will be required to be certified in compliance (FOIP) inspection.
You will have solid business skills (entrepreneurial, negotiation, cost competitiveness, business planning, strategic thinking and results forecasting) and as a team player demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse group of forest industry, government, resource users and community members.
