Full Time Position

Under the Complex Care and Developmental Disabilities Program, the Rehabilitation Assistant will provide services to clients with treatment plans. The Rehabilitation Assistant will also provide support to individuals and families by follow up, monitoring and carrying out treatment and rehabilitation services. The Rehab Assistant will be accountable to the Complex Care Case Coordinator.


· Minimum Grade 12 and/or post-secondary education in health services field or equivalent working experience

· Two years’ experience in a health services environment

· Knowledge of special needs for children and youth

· Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential

· Good working knowledge and experience in time management, excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently

· Excellent computer skills and experience with word processing and database management skills

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to work under minimal supervision and be a team player

· Knowledge of the people, culture and mental health priorities of the First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout area

· Experience and understanding of Anishinaabe cultural issues, geographical realities and social conditions with the northern remote first nation communities.

· Community contacts in the northern remote communities

· Knowledge of NIHB travel requirements

· Experience with FASD or rehab clinic administration is an asset

· Ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines (with a knowledge of other community health and social services)

· Knowledge of Anishinaabe language an asset


1. To support and carry out treatment plans for clients

2. To monitor progress and report appropriately through documentation or consultation

3. To support the identification of new clients and make referrals

4. To support in filling in appropriate paperwork for health and social needs

5. To assist with the coordination of clinics and home visits for visiting professionals

6. Travel to remote communities required

7. Mandatory training will be provided

8. Any other duties assigned
